How to Make A Seattle Streets Quilt
I designed this quilt in 2006 and made it available for free on the web, but this is the first time I've been able to provide a link to the .pdf directions on my own site. I have always thought it would be great for charity quilts, because it's very quick and easy, can be done with any block size or strip width, and has no seams to match until the very end. And separating the fabrics with black or another neutral allows you to include a wider variety of fabrics that might otherwise not go well together. Click on "Download file" for the .pdf. Sunset Streets

This was the original quilt. I went through my stash and pulled everything that reminded me of sunsets. The final quilt reminded me of looking out from a tall office tower in downtosn Seattle at sunset. (The actual quilts on this page are much brighter than they look in the photos.)

Seattle Streets with Muslin

When you use muslin as the fabric in between the colors, it give more of a mosaic tile look. (Yes, it is as puckery in real life as in the photo. I haven't figured out if my machine was acting up, or if I pressed it wrong or what. Pretty sure it will be a lot less noticeable once it's bordered, quilted and washed.)
